Shipboard Operations Room Layout Analysis Using Modeling and Simulation

چکیده
The introduction of low-profile consoles into shipboard operations room opens new possibilities to design its spatial layout. A modeling study was conducted examine six layout options by manipulating two factors: console orientation and supervisor seat assignment. quality each option evaluated algorithmically based on support operator interaction. results revealed the strengths weaknesses design: face-to-face found be superior for supporting visual auditory communication, face-to-back better at facilitating tactile interaction, whereas back-to-back preferable an where extensive interaction involved operators moving one another’s workstations. Benefits were also predicted configurations supervisors assigned a side seat, primarily improving cost scores distance links. Results from this strongly inclusion faceto-face setup alternative seating assignment as in future design.

Simulation modeling of a facility layout in operations management classes
Teaching quantitative courses can be challenging. Similarly, layout modeling and lean production concepts can be difficult to grasp in an introductory OM (operations management) class. This article describes a simulation model developed in PROMODEL to facilitate the learning of layout modeling and lean manufacturing. Simulation allows for the evaluation of layout alternatives and the testing of...
متن کاملSimulation Modeling and Analysis of In-Flight Service Operations for Commercial Passenger Flights
Nowadays, in-flight comfort has become an essential characteristic to survive in domestic airline businesses. Air hostesses’ quality of service and response time to customer demand plays a vital role in enhancing quality of the flight experience and passenger satisfaction. However, additional requirements on air hostess expose them to fatigue which could eventually result in job dissatisfac...
متن کاملModeling Cross-Docking Operations using Discrete Event Simulation
Cross-docking is a distribution system where products transported from warehouses to destinations are unloaded temporarily at intermediate facilities, and loaded onto outbound trucks to be shipped to their final destination. The complexity of cross-docking operations has been considered a problem of great interest to researchers and practitioners in the areas of Scheduling, Optimization, Supply...
متن کاملSimulation of Restaurant Operations Using the Restaurant Modeling Studio
The operation of quick service restaurants (QSR) is a highly engineered process, with many factors coming into play: physical layout, equipment availability, and worker staffing levels, positioning, and priorities. The Restaurant Modeling Studio (RMS) provides an analysis platform for investigating the impacts of these factors on critical performance metrics, especially speed of service and ser...

Navy Shipboard Power Systems have different characteristics when compared with utility power systems. To conduct system studies on shipboard power systems, an effective simulation tool is required to model the Shipboard Electric Power Systems. This paper presents the results of the analysis of three popular simulation tools, ATP, PSpice and Saber for transient simulation of Shipboard Electric P...
